Walter Sisulu University which is commonly known as WSU is a University of Science and Technology located in Mthatha, East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa. This University traces its history several decades back but was formally established in its current structure on July 1, 2005, following the merger of Border Technikon, Eastern Cape Technikon, and the University of the Transkei. 

With 31,500 students currently enrolled, this is one of South Africa’s biggest Universities, with 4 campuses, and extensive student residences. WSU Online Application 2022

Applications are done online at the school website. You will be required to provide an email address where your student ID number will be sent. Please note that the student ID number does not guarantee that your application is successful. 

Having read through the various departments you may be required to submit certain specific documents. However, the generally accepted documents at the university include:

A copy of your identity documents, the “Old” Senior Certificate, the National Senior Certificate “NSC,” National Certificate Vocational “NCV,” N6 Certificate. Students who are still in Grade 12 must upload their latest available results, while post Matric applicants must upload matric or equivalent certificate, as well as a copy of their academic records.

 

Mature Age Exemption

Some departments of the institution may consider mature age exemption for admission into some programs. Ensure to make enquires about your eligibility for this privilege by writing to the admissions office, before you start the process of registration. Transfer Students

Students who wish to study at WSU, but who were previously studying at other institutions may apply and submit the following documentation:

Matric Certificate, Post Matric Certificate, Identity Document, Certificate of Good Conduct, and Official Academic REPORT.

 

International Students:

International students first have to apply with (USAF) Universities of South Africa for the evaluation of school results or other diploma/degree qualifications. When you receive the results of the evaluation you may then commence with the application process, and then go ahead to upload the results and copy of your passport.

Application Closing Dates:

The faculty of Health Sciences closes on 30th September 2021, while other faculties close admissions on the 31st of October 2021. Prospective students are advised to fill the admissions forms completely before the closing dates as there will be no further registrations after the time has elapsed.

Lwazi Lushaba has now become a famous revolutionary intellectual. He then proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he obtained his M.A in Philosophy. He has held various teaching positions at Universities in Nigeria and South Africa, and he currently holds a faculty position at the University of Cape Town, South Africa where he teaches politics. He has written several books including ‘Development as Modernity, Modernity as Development.’

Advocate Tembeka Nicholas Ngcukaitobi is a South African Lawyer, Political Activist, Public Speaker, and Author. He is also a member of the South African Law Reform Commission. He is at the forefront of advocating the restoration of Land Rights to the black population, and he has written the book; The Land is Ours: South Africa’s First Black Lawyers and the Birth of Constitutionalism.

Doctor Lungile Pepeta was the foremost South African doctor and researcher. He was a paediatric cardiologist, medical researcher, university professor, and was also political activist. He was at one time the chairman of the Council of Medical Schemes.

Judge Mandisa Muriel Lindelwa Maya is the first South African female judge who served as president of the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa. She has held that position since 26th May 2017. She received her Law Education at Walter Sisulu University.
