The University of Johannesburg, more popularly known as UJ is a public university located in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. The University of Johannesburg was established in its current structure on 1 January 2005, but the institution has a history traceable for over 50 years. The University of Johannesburg came about as the result of a merger between the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), the Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR), and lastly, the Soweto and East Rand campuses of Vista University.

As of today, the University of Johannesburg is one of the most prestigious citadels of learning in South Africa, and on the continent as a whole. This University has established a reputation for being a top choice for students looking to get a quality education to help them have good careers, despite being a  newly emerged institution. How to Apply For University of Johannesburg Late Application

As stated above, all applications to the University of Johannesburg are done online. You can apply online by visiting the University of Johannesburg Online Application portal. Once you land on the portal the first thing you will be requested is to put in your email address, and then select the course you wish to study.

Therefore the first thing you need to have is an email address. If you do not already have one, you may create a free email with yahoo, Gmail, or any of the free email providers. You will also need a good internet connection.

The application portal can be accessed either through your smartphone, a computer, or a tablet. You will then be directed to create a Pin for yourself. When you input your email address and course of study, an email will be sent to you, containing a student number, and further instructions. Please bear in mind that the Student number does not guarantee a successful application. These student numbers are only issued for official reference purposes.

After that, you will be directed to log in with your details (your student number and PIN).

After a successful login, you will be directed to provide your personal information. The process of registration takes several steps which can all be done in one take, or gradually, over several days.

After putting in your personal data, the next step will be to upload your supporting documents. Please ensure that you upload all the proper documents and preview them before submitting your application. Many applications are rejected because the students have uploaded the wrong documents. If you are using a public computer ask the attendant to help you preview the documents you have uploaded, to ensure that they are the proper documents.  All applicants starting a new qualification are required to upload the following documents:

Birth Certificate or any other government-issued or verified valid Identity Document (Proof of application for new ID/Passport is also acceptable, although the university may later require you to provide the original)

Certificates/Qualifications already obtained. This includes your grade 12 results, National Senior Certificates, or any other certificates. Please ensure that you have selected this same certificate or qualification while inputting your preferences.

Recent Academic results. You are required to provide this if you are transferring from another institution.

Municipal billing document/or other account statements issued by a financial institution. This document should not older than 3 months. If the applicant is not yet independent they may be issued in the name of his guardian.

Make sure that you complete the registration process, and review all your entries and information provided for accuracy. This will avoid disappointments. Applications are only received when you click Submit Application.
