You will be required to present your identification and UIF registration number so make sure you have it handy when visiting the Labour office. The officials at the Labour office will run a check on your claim to know if it is been activated or not. If it has been activated then, you will be told when to expect your first payment. Conclusion

South African employees can check their UIF Claim status online. The Unemployment Insurance Fund sounds good, right? Hold on a minute! You must know that this fund is not meant for employees who were fired as a result of the negligence of their duties or worse still, bad conduct.

Neither is it meant for those who just stopped showing up at their workplace. Who then is eligible for the Unemployment Insurance Fund, you ask? The UIF is only for employees who were laid off or fired from their jobs by no fault of theirs. The Unemployment Insurance Funds serve as a lifeline for such employees. You can now check your UIF claim status online at www.ufiling.co.za. Yes, it’s that easy!

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) is essentially a fund that was launched to provide financial support to out-of-work employees. It was meant for employees who have either been laid off or fired from their jobs without any fault of their making. The fund also covers maternity and death benefits that can be accessed by the family or loved ones of deceased employees.

However, in recent times, the UIF scheme has been compelled to broaden its provision to employed workers who have had their working hours or remunerations slashed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Their provision has also been extended to employees who have not been allowed to function during the lockdown or have had to be placed on mandatory unpaid leave. So if you have been severely affected by the Covid 19 pandemic, you can contact the UIF for support.

Cheers!
